On the occasion that celebrates
women’s role in building the nation, and in line with its commitment to support
the local communities across its network, the Bank pledged its
support towards the Non-profit organisation’s trailblazing work as the region’s
first women’s crisis programme.
Manama, Bahrain: Bank
ABC, MENA’s leading international bank, along with its digital, mobile-only
retail arm, ila Bank, commemorated Bahraini Women’s Day 2022 by pledging
financial support towards the initiatives of the Shamsaha Women’s Center. In
its sixth year, the Bahrain-based non-profit corporation, Shamsaha focuses on
empowering and protecting women subjected to abuse through the first,
full-scale 24/7 women’s crisis response programme in the Middle East.
Celebrating the accomplishments, potential and
resilience of women within the Group and beyond, Bank ABC’s Acting Group CEO,
Sael Al Waary, hosted an inspiring breakfast session for staff featuring Ms.
Mary-Justine Todd, Shamsaha’s founder, who spoke about the organisation’s role
in supporting and amplifying the potential of all women. She also explained how
women can volunteer and serve as advocates of this cause.
During his opening remarks, Mr. Al Waary noted,
“Seeing our female leaders, who play a critical role in the growth
and progression of our organisation, gathered on the occasion
of Bahraini Women's Day, fills me with great pride and appreciation. Bank
ABC remains committed to creating a diverse culture across our network. I
encourage everyone to proactively engage with their communities to make a
positive difference."
Bank ABC, as a socially responsible corporate
citizen, takes an active role in supporting social and environmental
initiatives across its entire network, also encouraging its staff to contribute
in their personal capacity to serve the communities they are part of. In Bahrain,
the Bank has been regularly sponsoring educational programmes that promote
financial literacy, previously the staff conducted a beach clean-up, and the
Bank runs special programmes that offer financial assistance to those in dire
need.
In the spirit of marking the remarkable role women
play in the Bahraini society, the Bank’s commitment to support Shamsaha only
underlines its belief that with the right support and intent, we all have the
capacity to turn around our own lives and that of others.
