Bank ABC Group, including ila Bank and AFS, launched a US$10 million pandemic relief fund to ease the impact of COVID-19 across its network and support government bodies, and frontline medical workers risking their lives to protect others.
The funds were allocated to national and charitable initiatives to contain the viral spread and lessen the financial burden on underprivileged segments. It included a substantial US$2 million contribution towards the “Feena Khair” campaign to aid the efforts of the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19 in Bahrain, home to our Head Office for over four decades.
In addition, our MENA based units utilized the fund to support health facilities, frontline workers, and disadvantaged segments, whose circumstances were aggravated by the pandemic.
Bank ABC Tunisia made donations to aid medical staff and healthcare facilities, including the National Council of the Medical Association, 1818 Solidarity Fund, Rabta Hospital and Charles Nicole Hospital.
Moreover, Bank ABC Tunisia contributed to the action ‘En force, Ensemble’ organised in collaboration with the association ‘One Meal for Each Tunisian – OMFET’ to offer families with disabled members food baskets for the Holy month of Ramadan.
ila Bank rolled out several initiatives to uplift the local community amid the pandemic, including interactive social media campaigns offering prizes and promoting discounts. In addition, it collaborated with the Supreme Council for Women in Bahrain to provide 2000 meals for volunteers of the ‘Together for Bahrain’s Safety’ campaign’ and COVID-19 hotline operators amid the pandemic.
